Encounter Map – Waterfall Cave

The Waterfall Cave located within Sanctuary Vale. A dank, damp cave with some truly breathtaking sights and equally breathtaking monsters. A++ WOULD SPELUNK AGAIN.

Encounter Map – Ancient Den

The Ancient Den, a cavern map inside the Sanctuary Vale. Inside are all sorts of beasts and bad things- perfect for the would be hunter looking for a prize.

This was my first underground map. I liked it then and I like it now.

Encounter Map – Sanctuary Lodge

The lodge within Sanctuary Vale. I really liked how the rafters turned out! I need to start doing that again.

This was one of the few maps where I imported Roll20 map assets onto the map to begin with, which I now never, ever do. As these are generally designed for Roll20, having the tables/chairs/doors as objects I can move with player actions leads to a much more dynamic game.

Encounter Map – Sanctuary Vale

Sanctuary Vale is a pure forest filled with large and dangerous wildlife. A remote Clontish hunting lodge serves as a waypoint for local travelers seeking to try their lick in the forest and the hidden caves within the valley.

This is one of the first forests I tried with transparency. It worked out sorta. I still like how the lodge came out despite not quite having roofs figured out yet.

Encounter Map – Pragmatics Lab

The College of Pragmatics has taken reasonable steps to ensure their experiments do not escape. Filling their corridors with poison, lava, and worse seems a small price to pay for safety, no?

Encounter Map – Theoretics Lab

The inner laboratories of the College of Theoretics are filled with strange substances, areas where the nature of the universe has been altered, and remarkably well crafted topiary creatures (wait, did that one move??).

Encounter Map – Versity Headmaster’s Office

Every magic academy needs a bizarre and tricky headmaster to run things and generally make a mess of our protagonist’s life. Versity is no exception! In these alcoves find a range of magical traps requiring a soft touch to actually reach the headmaster.

Encounter Map – College of Theoretics

The Versity Magical Academy is split into two colleges: Pragmatics and Theoretics. The college of Theoretics is the home of philosophers and wizards, those willing to tinker with the very nature of the universe to delightful or catastrophic effect.

Encounter Map – College of Pragmatics

The Versity Magic Academy is split into two colleges: Pragmatics and Theoretics. Pragmatics focuses upon the natural world and impacting things in a direct and measurable way with magic. Typically housing more sorcerers, mathematicians, and magical engineers a variety of constructs and equipment designed to do specific, tangible actions can be found around their testing rooms.

Encounter Map – Versity Academy Center

The center of Versity Academy, here we can find classrooms and faculty offices for those interested in learning magic. Just make sure you don’t become a test subject yourself!

One of the earlier maps made for the Boarhardt Campaign, and ultimately not used as the two first parties went in different directions.

Encounter Map – Versity Commons

Versity Commons serves as both the port, market, and entertainment venue for the Versity Magic Academy. Hidden fraternities, rowdy bars filled with sailors and spellcasters, and the local constabulary make for an interesting afternoon for careless visitors to the island…

Originally created in June 2014 for one of the three optional openings of the Boarhardt Campaign, this was one of the first maps I created and the first one to use my own wall system. While it still had a lot of kinks to be worked out, it turned out pretty well for jumping into this blind!

This is the first of several maps located in and around Versity.

Encounter Map – Versity Gardens

Located just off the shore of the magical college of Versity, Versity Gardens serves as a relaxing park and place to practice the arcane arts… but beware other students!

Originally created in April 2015 as one of the three possible opening stories for the Boarhardt Guild Campaign, this was one of the first maps that I made and was satisfied with enough not to have eventually deleted. Looking back now, the saturation across the entire map is way to high and the use of pre-existing art assets pulled from Roll20 makes me a bit sad (the tent and house). I may one day remake this should the party ever head to Versity.

I later added an interior secondary map for the groundskeeper’s house and the battle tent on this map:

World Map – Falleron (Spring 2014)

OON Map 2232015

The first world map of Falleron. At the time we had a “Game of Thrones” feel going with the original plot where all players were mostly human and the story revolved around the great houses (seen colored here) battling over which heir would get the throne. That eventually was set aside by the end of the Boarhardt Campaign, but the impact of this initial incarnation of the world went a really long way towards fleshing out how things eventually ended up.

Many of the early encounter maps (those made in Spring 2014) directly correlate with the “zones” on this map.

World Map – City of Revalia (2006)

The original Revalia Map, circa 2006. Ten years later we actually visit the place! This is a very, very old map from well before I even started playing Pathfinder or using Roll20. This was originally a map made for a NaNoWriMo story written about the Squires of Revalia, a sort of fantasy murder mystery.

With us finally visiting the city, I used a lot of what I originally made in the telling of the current story, but pretty soon I’ll need to revisit this for a more modern and polished area map.
